Josie Holtzapfel of Klamath Falls, Oregon passed away on May 7, 2017. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 9:00 - 11:00 am in the Westminster Memorial Park Carolina Chapel, A Celebration of Life Services will take place Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 12:00 pm in the Westminster Memorial Park Main Chapel with a Graveside to follow.

Josie Armmine Holtzapfel was the 7th child out of 8 to be born to Huey and Beulah Carlisle on April 12, 1933 in Durant, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim Holtzapfel, daughter Carol Tetz, son Donald Burgess Jr., and her 7 siblings, Oliver Carlisle, Juanita Long, Davey C. Carlisle, Edward Carlisle and 3 infant siblings, Eller Mae Carlisle, Howard William Carlisle and Eva Belle Carlisle.
She is survived by her 3 children Ann Haskins of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Benjamin Burgess II of Cypress, California and James Holtzapfel Jr. of White City, Oregon, Seven grandchildren: William Beachboard, Robyn York, Benjamin Burgess III, Morgan Holtzapfel, Alec Holtzapfel, Chad Burgess and Heather Burgess, ten great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Josie met her husband Jim in El Centro, CA and they were married March 23, 1963. They moved from El Centro to the Long Beach area in 1963 where they were blessed with their son Jimmy on December 13, 1963.
In 1974 she made her home in Lakewood, CA for 27 years before moving to Grants Pass, Oregon in January 2002.
Josie was a kind, caring, loving mom and grandma, and a wonderful homemaker. She loved having her family over for dinner, pool parties and birthday pool parties. The 4th of July pool parties are some of the families fondest memories.
She was a fabulous cook; her son Ben said, "I loved her liver and onions". All the grandkids remember always having ice cream in the freezer.
Josie loved attending the grandchildren's special programs at school and church and cheering them on at their sporting events.
She helped her kids out by watching and caring for several of her grandchildren while they worked. Giving them comfort in knowing their children were safe and loved.
She loved her family and friends, and she helped many of them out during difficult times. Her grandson Morgan said "She was always there for me, she always took care of us and was always there".
She loved to travel and took a fun trip to Germany with her best friend Marilyn. Her daughter Ann recalls her mom saying, "As long as I have gas in the car and a dime to call home, I'll travel anywhere".
Josie loved Gospel music, one of her favorites was Tennessee Ernie Ford. Josie enjoyed playing bingo, sewing and cooking. Her granddaughter Robyn remembers always watching "General Hospital" and Oprah" with her.
Josie entered eternal life on May 7, 2017 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She was 84 years old.
She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
